Introduction of SD-WAN

Software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) is defined as the particular implementation of software-defined network (SDN) technology applied to WAN connections that link business networks over vast regional distances, including branch offices and data centres.

For instance, to link branch offices to a central corporate network, or to connect data centers separated by distance, a WAN may be used. These WAN links have also used equipment in the past that involved specific proprietary hardware.

    Additional enhancements include central controllers, zero-touch provisioning, advanced analytics and on-demand circuit provisioning, with some cloud-based network intelligence, allowing unified decision management and sequencing.
